A Commitment to Serving the Neediest Youth

In 2003 the White House Task Force Report on Disadvantaged Youth noted that despite billions of public and private dollars spent on services to youth, many of the neediest youth are still being left behind. The report cited a lack of communication, coordination, and collaboration among federal agencies that provide services to youth, especially our country’s neediest youth.

Federal agencies were charged with developing more effective interagency collaborations to better serve targeted youth populations, with priority given to serving the neediest youth.

As a result, the federal agencies serving youth formed the Shared Youth Vision Federal Partnership to serve as a catalyst at the national, state, and local levels to strengthen coordination, communication, and collaboration among youth-serving agencies. To increase access to the federal information and resources available to assist states in implementing the Shared Youth Vision initiative, the Federal Partnership established a Solutions Desk.

Solutions Desk

The Solutions Desk serves as the gateway to the resource centers, clearinghouses, and training and technical assistance providers of the Federal Partnership. Coordinated by the National Child Welfare Resource Center for Youth Development, a service of the Children's Bureau, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Solutions Desk provides states with a single point of access to Federal Partnership representatives and provides states assistance in developing Shared Youth Vision teams and implementing Shared Youth Vision activities.
